Urban, Harvey, Witherow, Jones, and More Carry Torch for Nesbitt Performance Engines

Graham, NC: The staff at Nesbitt Performance Engines would like to congratulate several customers on recent success in the IHRA Summit Pro-Am tour and big dollar bracket events.

Longtime Nesbitt Performance customer Donny “Hollywood” Urban clinched the IHRA Division 1 Quick Rod title on the strength of several late round finishes throughout the season. Urban, the #3 national finisher in 2006, depends on a 632 cubic inch Nesbitt powerplant to push his Quick Rod machine to consistent 8.90’s at 180 mph.

Nesbitt Performance’s own Brett Nesbitt earned a division title of his own, claiming the Quick Rod crown in Division 9. With just one national event remaining on the docket, Nesbitt sits directly behind national points leader Danny Waters, Jr. To move into the lead, and claim the championship, Nesbitt will need to win the fourth round at the season ending IHRA World Finals in Rockingham (Waters can also improve his score at that event with a final round appearance).

“Carolina Kid” Travis Harvey, a seasoned driver out of the Race Tech Race Cars stable, used his Nesbitt Performance powerplant to win the Piedmont Dragway track championship in dramatic fashion. Harvey put on an amazingly display of driving, winning both events in a double-header season finale to catapult himself to the season championship. Harvey also earned a nice payday at the 12th annual Million Dollar Race, where he advanced to the final sixteen cars.

Earlier in the million dollar weekend, Steve Witherow earned a runner-up finish in the Thursday $10,000-to-win gamblers race. Both Witherow and his son Steve, Jr., depend on Championship Series 565 powerplants from Nesbitt Performance Engines to run consistent 4.70’s in their Race Tech 4-link dragsters.

While Harvey and Witherow were enjoying success at the Million Dollar Race in Memphis, several other Nesbitt Performance customers were blistering the track halfway across the country at the IHRA Presidents Cup Nationals at Maryland International Raceway. There, the final round of Top Dragster was an all Nesbitt Performance affair. Jeff Groat debuted his beautiful new Mullis 4-link dragster with Jimmy Jones behind the wheel and scored the Top Dragster victory. Groat utilizes a Nesbitt Performance Engines powerplant, as does Top Dragster runner-up Aldan Miller.

Nesbitt Performance Engines would like to congratulate these customers on their recent success, and urge competitors throughout the country to consider Nesbitt Performance Engines for all your high performance needs! Nesbitt Performance Customers Enjoy Hot Summer!!!

Graham, NC: Nesbitt Performance Engines would like to congratulate a number of their core customers and employees on a stellar string of performances along the IHRA and big dollar bracket tours.

Nesbitt Performance Engines owner Brett Nesbitt scored a pivotal Quick Rod victory at the IHRA MOPAR Canadian Nationals in late July. Nesbitt’s win moved him into contention for the 2007 IHRA World Championship. Brett’s Race Tech chassis machine ispowered by a Nesbitt Performance Engines 582 cubic inch 12 degree motor that pushes him to the 8.90 index at speeds nearing 190 mph.

Just weeks prior, Donny “Hollywood” Urban claimed a Quick Rod victory of his own at the IHRA Summit Pro-Am event at Pittsburgh Raceway Park. Urban’s Quick Rod entry is powered by a Nesbitt Performance Engines 632 cubic inch bullet, and his victory also vaulted Urban into contention for the 2007 title.

The month of August brought back-to-back big dollar bracket races at Atco Raceway and Mid-Michigan Motorplex. Once again, Nesbitt Performance Engines customers shined. At the AA Auto Salvage Mega Bucks weekend in Atco, NJ, Wesley Washington drove to a $25,000 victory over Brett Nesbitt in an all-Nesbitt Performance final round. Washington’s Race Tech dragster is powered by a Nesbitt Performance Engines 555 cubic inch Big Duke engine, while Nesbitt drove his Race Tech Top Dragster machine to the runner-up spot. That car features a mammoth 632 cubic inch powerplant that pushes it to quarter mile E.T.’s below the 7 second mark.

Dwayne Patton also scored a victory for Nesbitt Performance Engines at Atco, driving one of the “Team W” machines to a gamblers race victory. The car, like each of the “TeamW” fleet, features a Nesbitt Performance Engines Champions Series 565 cubic inch conventional head engine.

A week later at the World Super Pro Challenge at Mid-Michigan Motorplex, “Team W” struck again. This time it was Steve Witherow, Jr. making the trip to the pay window, as a red-light start cost him a victory in the $10,000 gamblers race final. Witherow was at the wheel of one of the team’s Champion Series 565 powered Race Tech machines.

Nesbitt Performance Engines would like to congratulate these customers on their recent success, and to thank each and every Nesbitt Performance customer for their patronage! ATTENTION SPORTSMAN RACERS: Looking for the Most Motor for your dollar?

Nesbitt Performance Engines 582 Pro-Filer

Graham, NC: As the trend in sportsman racing is to go faster and faster with an emphasis on efficient, reliable, cost effective horsepower, the professionals at Nesbitt Performance Engines in Graham, NC are happy to introduce a new high horsepower engine that is both consistent and economical in today’s big dollar bracket racing and index racing environment.

Nesbitt’s answer is the engine builders new Champion Series 582. The engine, which features a steel Dart Block and Oliver Steel Rods has produced quarter mile ET’s in the 6.90’s in a 1900 lb. 4-link dragster.

“I think our Champion Series 582 is the perfect bracket motor,” said owner (and successful bracket and class racer in his own right) Brett Nesbitt. “The 582 isn’t a $40,000 engine, but it features all the best components, and it allows competitors to be one of the faster cars in the bracket wars and .90 categories. I’ve been running this 582 in my Race Tech 4-link car for over a season now. I use a Hughes “Soft Hit” converter and it runs high 4.40’s and low 4.50’s in eighth mile bracket racing. With a more aggressive converter, I’ve been 4.37 @ 159 on motor. The car has run in the 6.90’s on the quarter mile and has been 8.90 @ 187. I’ve got over 200 runs on the motor, and haven’t changed anything but the oil.”

The Nesbitt Performance Engines Champion Series 582 features a Dart billet cap short deck block, Oliver billet rods, Callies Crankshaft, Ross custom pistons, Pro-Filer Heads with titanium valves, T&D Shaft Rockers, Jesel Belt Drive, Billet Oil Pump, a custom grind 7/4 swap camshaft, an aluminum oil pan, 7/16” tapered pushrods, .903” lifters, bead-lock valves, ATI Balancer, SFI Flexplate, Pro-Filer Intake manifold, MSD Crank Trigger and Distributor, and a single APD 1250 carburetor. The engine sells for $26,000.

“We designed this package for the sportsman racer. Sure, we’ll build any motor a customer wants--custom engine building is our market, so we do a number of all-aluminum 632 inch and larger motors. But for the weekly bracket racer looking to go fast, the 582 is hard to beat. It’s a steel motor, which you can argue makes more sense in a dragster anyhow because it puts more weight on the rear tires, it makes great power, and the additional money in the engine goes into the parts that normally wear out. It’s a wet sump motor, and it’s a very low maintenance piece. Of course a guy can save money by cutting corners, but by using the belt drive, the big lifters & pushrods, bead-lock valves, T&D shaft rockers, etc. we’re eliminating the weak links in these motors and creating a really durable, reliable piece in addition to a fast motor.”

“I race a lot myself, and while I don’t claim to have all the answers, I certainly feel like I can lead our customers in the right direction,” explained Nesbitt. “We sell these motors complete: carb to pan with the ignition system and everything. They’re dyno tuned and ready to race. I can even sell you a converter with the motor, and I’ll be able to tell a customer within a couple hundredths what they’ll run when they go to the track. That way it’s a pretty simple deal for them. Bascially, we say ‘Here’s your motor, here’s the carburetor, the timing is set, put this converter in it, and you’ll run 4.49--or whatever. It’s easy on the customer.”

Nesbitt Performance Engines Customers Enjoy Banner Weekend at Farmington Dragway’s Big Bucks Bonanza!

Steve Witherow, Jr.

Farmington, NC: Nesbitt Performance Engines of Graham, NC would like to take this opportunity to congratulate a number of their customers on their outstanding performances at the Big Bucks Bonanza at Farmington Dragway last weekend.

Steve Witherow, Jr. put forth a dominating weekend performance in his Nesbitt Champion Series 565 powered Race Tech Dragster that started with a $10,000 victory in Friday’s main event. Fellow Nesbitt Performance Engines customer Travis Harvey advanced to the semi-final round of that event with his similarly equipped Champion Series 565 powered Race Tech machine. Later than evening Darrell Collins won a $3,000 Hi-Rollers Gamblers event with his Nesbitt Performance Engines powered dragster.

In Saturday’s $50,000-to-win main event, five of the last ten cars in eliminations featured Nesbitt Power, including quarterfinal finishers Witherow and Wesley Washington, Jr., as well as Brett Nesbitt, Rick Mann, and Harvey. The trend continued in that evenings two Hi-Roller races, as J.P. Hickmon made a final round appearance with his Champion Series 565 powered Mullis Dragster, and E.J. Womack earned a Hi-Rollers runner-up with his Nesbitt Performance powered machine. Additionally, Nesbitt Performance customers Jerry Brewer, Donny “Hollywood” Urban, Jeff Groat, and Jimmy Jones each made semi-final appearances in Hi-Rollers races throughout the weekend.

Sunday’s finale brought more of the same as Nesbitt Performance Engines dominated the late rounds of the event. In the semi-final round there were no other engine builders to be found in the staging lanes, as Steve Witherow, Jr. continued his amazing weekend with two entries in the event with three cars remaining. The third entrant was none other than Nesbitt Performance Engines own Brett Nesbitt, as his 582 powered Race Tech dragster ran consistent 4.50 E.T.’s all weekend. Witherow knocked off Nesbitt in the semi-final round, earning a rare Win & Runner-Up finish in the star-studded event.

Once again, the staff at Nesbitt Performance Engines would like to congratulate each of these drivers and thank them for choosing Nesbitt Performance for their high horsepower needs. Graham, NC: The race engine building team at Nesbitt Performance Engines would like to congratulate Donny “Hollywood” Urban on his Quick Rod victory at the Maryland International Raceway IHRA Mr. Gasket Pro-Am event last weekend. The win, Urban’s first in IHRA competition, came in Urban and partner Charles Link’s new Race Tech Swing Arm Mono-Shock Dragster which is powered by an 18-degree Nesbitt Performance 632. The Nesbitt powerplant pushed the car to a 7.13 quarter mile ET at over 184 mph, and the 5.70 eighth-mile index at over 146.

Urban’s Mr. Gasket Pro-Am triumph came at the hands of final round opponent Ed McCleaft of New York. Urban took a slight advantage on the starting line (.020 to .023), and ran right on the 5.70 index (5.704) to top McCleaft’s breakout 5.696 run.

Other Nesbitt Performance customers enjoying recent success include Todd Long, who won the Quick Doorcar shootout at Roxboro Motorsports Park last weekend, and Travis Harvey who claimed the Hot Rod Combo victory at the IHRA Pro-Am event at Mooresville. Harvey was also runner-up in the Quick Rod combo event in his familiar Race Tech dragster.

Nesbitt Performance Engines Congratulates Jason Folk, MEGA $100,000 Winner!

Graham, NC: The staff of Nesbitt Performance Engines in Graham, NC would like to congratulate defending IHRA Top Dragster World Champion Jason Folk on his $100,000 bracket triumph last weekend at Memphis Motorsports Park. Folk, a twenty-three year old second-generation racer from the fabled Folk Family (Jason’s father Randy is a longtime big dollar bracket winner, and uncle Ron along with cousins Brian and Nick are familiar faces in the winner circle along the IHRA and big bracket tours), drove his Nesbitt Performance powered Mullis Chassis by Forrester machine to the win over Ricky Jones.

Amazingly, Jason’s father Randy piloted the same machine (and same combination) to a $100,000 victory at last season’s “Fistful of Dollars” event at Montgomery Motorsports Park, making the two-year old chassis one of the most financially lucrative machines in sportsman bracket racing history.

“Barney (Jason’s Mullis/Forrester machines features a mainly purple paint scheme) has paid for itself a few times over now!” said Folk. “Seriously, it’s a great feeling. To look around the pits at Memphis and see all of the best racers from across the country competing for one hundred grand, and then to be able to come out on top is unbelievable. It’s a testament to the entire combination: the Mullis Chassis by Forrester car, the Nesbitt Performance Engine, the Mickey Thompson Tires--all of the manufacturers who had a hand in this car deserve more credit than I do. I just get to ride in it!” Folk racing’s marketing partners also include Mr. Gasket Performance, Milodon, Aerospace Components, Nitroplate, and more.

In addition to Folk’s success, several other Nesbitt Performance Engines customers have been tearing up the track recently, including Randall Blinson who won Top Dragster at the Mooresville Dragway IHRA Pro-Am event last weekend with a Nesbitt Performance powerplant. Nesbitt Performance patrons Jimmy Jones and E.J. Parker squared off in the final round at Maryland International Raceway last week, and Nesbitt Performance Engines own Brett Nesbitt drove his Race Tech machine to a win in Top Dragster at the Farmington Dragway IHRA Pro-Am event two weeks ago.

Nesbitt Performance Engines would like to congratulate these individuals, and thank each member of their growing customer base. For more information on Nesbitt Racing Engines, contact 336-229-1344 or visit online at www.nesbittperformance.com.
